The first weekend in March brought 5.5m Sailors to St. Johann i. Pongau, Austria, for 3 days of skiing and dinner-conversations.
Owners & Crews of AUT 4, GER 8, GER 65, GER 80, GER 102 and GER 112 enjoyed snow & sunshine as well as excellent Austrian food. Amongst the participants were also newcomers to the Class, whom we will possibly be seeing racing aboard GER 112 in summer. The costumes will be exchanged for proper sailing gear, then.
The slopes around St. Johann i. Pongau do offer easy-ride blue sections, very nice red ones and demanding black areas. There are pre-installed Slalom-racing courses and speed sections for everyone. A racing programme can be established for the next event, in order to allow a prize-giving-combination with a sailing regatta.
Conversations centered around regatta planning, new boats joining the class and winter repair & restoration reports. But the participants also enjoyed other topics, as there is a broad basis in common interests, within the Class.
Given the good outcome of the weekend, It was agreed to hold another Ski-Yachting in the beautiful and big Ski-Amadée Skiing area in Austria, around early March 2021.
