The Finnish 5.5m Class Association had an opportunity to be represented at the Venexpo fair in Turku, South West Finland.
Indeed, Mr Tero Toivonen from TT-Puuvenepalvelut has completely renovated "Trial", a Carl-Olof Granfelt design from 1951. The boat was one of the fastest in Finland in the 1950's, but was later abandoned in a barn and forgotten for years. She is now almost ready for launching and will undergo equipment fitting during the winter and receive a new aluminium mast. Next summer "Trial" will join the vintage fleet in Finland with "Skylark", another 1950's design, which will hopefully also be relaunched after an extensive renovation. With these two new re-entrants the vintage fleet will include nearly ten original classics.
The Venexpo was a great opportunity for the Finnish 5.5m Association to present the class, the yachts and 5.5 racing to thousands of visitors. We are truly thankful for Mr Toivonen for providing us the opportunity to cooperate on this occasion.
