Well hidden in its decorative cover, this image just received is for sure showing a very particular gift to the 5.5m community:
Prepared for unfolding at a later stage
But not only the present inside will make us smile, once reveiled. Also the charming crew at Sune Carlsson's boatyard is adding to a festive feeling.
We can be very happy to having seen Sweden to again become a 5.5m Nation. Starting with Hakan Kellner and his "Student Team" (SWE 50) in 2008/9, followed by Jens Busch re-entering the Class in 2011, later joining with Ville Hofman-Bang on board SWE 64, then Leif Carlsson with the restoration of SWE 54 in 2013, bringing Sune to the races this year, Bernard Rost boarding SWE 65 in 2014 and Mats Nelson joining races in 2015, with SWE 46 as well as Jerry Larsson on SWE 24.
The idea for a World's in Sweden, initiated by a group of 5.5m sailors visiting "Allt for Sjön" in 2013 which lead to the recent summer feast in Nynäshamn, was connected to a promise of Leif, to one day presenting a new Swedish built 5.5m Modern boat. And not only that, it is now also a Swedish design, with Hakan Södergren adding design diversity to our construction class.
Leif is offering to follow the ongoing development of the building process, online:
